Hello good people,
I am slowly falling in love with African prints, something I never thought I would say. Do not get me twisted I do love Africa and all its beauty, but a few years back this print was simply a traditional/cultural piece that was worn in specific practices. Kudos to all designers whose creativity has brought this new love into the modern fashion. Live Love African 🙂
For the love of the print, I am serving this piece that I got from Maasai Market for only 1000 Kenya shillings.
Okay I lie, a friend bought it for me. Allow me to tell you how it happened. Fiona, a beautiful soul from Rwanda, was visiting Kenya for the first time and wanted a quick tour of Nairobi. Her time was limited to a day since she was on transit. She needed to make the best out of the six or so hours she had.
She was his (now our) friend 🙂 that I had never met before. At first I was skeptical. Then he mentioned Nairobi National Park and I was all in. You know me and the wild, there is no way I was going to be left behind and let them have all the fun. Then again it was the eve of my birthday and just like that, a plan was born: To make a friend and have fun as I turned a year older.
Making friends we did, I with her and she with Maasai locals at Nairobi Safari Walk. I can not describe the love that Fiona has for Maasai people and their culture. Dear Fiona, may be you should relocate and we will find a permanent way to incorporate you into it 🙂 Anyway our day ended at Maasai market (real love here guys) to get a souvenir and memory of her love. And she got me this beautiful African piece as a thank you and a birthday gift. What else would I say but a big THANK YOU. I lived that day fully, loved a new soul who left a touch of African love with me for me.
PS: How are you spending your long weekend? How about a visit to the National park in the city and/or Oloolua Nature trail in Karen where I did this shoot? You will not regret either.
