Yipee! the rainy season is here and I hope it is going to stay longer. Mahn the heat in Nairobi is killing me! I’m I the only one? I have been finding it difficult to choose what to wear in the heat. I know there is a range of outfits, but when you work outdoors everyday you (I) run short. Here is why: dresses. skirts and shorts are not part of the equation (work rules), too much sleeveless = too much tan and covering up means boiling up. Now you see why I am so excited about the rain! I need to cover up my arms with some fancy sweatshirts, get my skin tone back and of course end the boots camp in my closet 🙂 It has been so long since they saw the light.
I did this shoot a while ago when the weather was still undecided. As usual, my team and I settled for nature, fun and beauty. The slopes and rocks were however unanticipated and it felt more like a boot camp as we rushed up and down to get the perfect shots. I can bet we all lost a kilo or two on that day, which we quickly refilled with a family feast lunch later. Anyway I digress…
The shoot location is Oloolua nature trail in Karen, a beautiful place where you can escape the busy life in the city. Take a walk/jog through the trail, enjoy the water fall views, explore the caves and enjoy a picnic as the sound of the birds lull you to some deep reflective mood. You could also learn about environmental conservation in this place. If you are in the mood for some tranquility, this is a place to consider. If not let’s continue to pray for the rain to stick a little longer to cool off the heat and bring out the boots.
