Gone are the days when Ankara was reserved for the weekend occasions and traditional events. This African print, as it is popularly known, has come of age and slowly found its way from the church and weddings to the office and modern day wear. Boring traditional materials are a thing of the past too, as designers are working hard to incorporate the modern day style choices.
Wondering how you could do Ankara for the office? There are many smart office wears like jackets, suits, dresses, skirts and pants that could make great style options depending with your preference. If you are shy about going full on ankara cut in a corporate suit, you could start by mix and matching your ankara piece with plain formal pieces.
I bought this Ankara material for 500 shillings only 🙂 It was too large that my friend Daisy made this lovely shorts and coat combo, a shirt dress and a shirt. Today I am featuring the shorts and coat combo that can sometimes be worn separately for the office. The good thing about this outfit is that I can wear it with a a matching formal skirt or dress during the day and switch it up with the short for an occasion later. Versatility is key when it comes to my choice of clothing, so as to avoid a clogged closet.
Enjoy the photos and have a lovely week ahead!

For the office look, I wore a black skirt and black top then brightened it with the ankara coat and matching earrings and shoes
For the casual look, I just put on the shorts and had a change of shoes.
Have a fruitful week Profashionals!!
