The rainy season is here and with it comes the cold. Is it just me or is there anyone else who finds it difficult dressing for the cold season? The truth is, the only bit I love is wearing boots. They are a classic with so many different types to choose from. You can never go wrong with boots if you choose wisely. A way from boots the rest of the body needs to be cold protected too. This can be achieved through layering.
This might be a daunting task (mostly for the office look) since most coats, sweaters, scarves and jackets come in different textures. The art of mixing textures does not have to keep you from your stylish self this cold season, it is as easy as knowing which fabrics are contrasting enough but not too different to go together.
Incorporating different fabric textures gives a tinge of creativity and a personal touch to your outfit. If done correctly, the result is stunning. The trick to achieving this look is sticking to one statement piece and mixing a little bit of the the rest. If not, then stick to one family colour so that the the different textures have a common element that bring them together. As usual, I opted for a black outfit. A black satin dress and a woolen poncho! I was not sure if these two fabrics can really go together, but then again what is style if you can not dare and go against some rules? I accessorized with a crystal rock detail golden belt and bright orange coloured velvet shoes to breathe some life into the outfit. What do you think?
As the rainy season sets in, let us be courageous with our choice of clothing and make our wardrobes as versatile as possible 🙂
