Imagine spending a night by the banks of River Mara. Having to see crocodiles and hippos everytime you peep through your tent window. And dining with thee animal as they put up a spectacular basking and splashing show. Thrilling right? You do not have to imagine further, you can have first hand experience at Olonana Sanctuary Mara, our second and last stop of the Mara getaway. A place where forests dance to the wind and sing you a lullaby, echoed by the calm waters of Mara river. Once in a while you will hear a loud plash and noise by hippos to test your adrenaline levels.
I miss this place. Our arrival was met in a grand way. A welcome serenade with beautiful tunes played from a flute. This played till we were settled on our already waiting seats. The feeling was that of a queen and a king getting to their empire. I would not mind a repeat. The evening was followed by more surprises for all the guests.I spent most of the night peeping through the tent zipper to watch the hippos. well the only thing i saw were the eyes popping out of the waters. I almost fell down running away from an imaginary animal. I know, but as much as me and nature have a love connection going on, a distance relationship works just fine sometimes. I wished I could have more time to experience more surprises and goodness at Olonana.
Special thanks to Maurice for the hospitality, as promised I am coming back soon, Joseph for the excellent housekeeping and finally Chef John for making sure I overfed till my brain functionality paused.
Ps: Yes I am bespectacled 😉
