The drive to the masai mara started at 11am. This was not the initial plan, but there are always unforeseen circumstances in almost everything we do, right? You ask why we chose to drive all the way? I like adventure and there is no better way to experience the stunning surrounding and wildlife in this fascinating part of Kenya.
Like fate may have it, we arrived at around 6pm; just in time to game watch as the animals came out from their hiding places. Amazing!!
Olare Mara Kempinski, yeees that was our first stop. Did you know there was a Kempinski in the Mara? No? Now you do. It is a tented camp tucked away in the Mara Motorogi conservancy near Ntiakitiak River. The perfect place to experience nature with the comfort of a 5 star luxury hotel! How about that? Definitely a place you should visit. The staff here is super vibrant and I can attest that there no dull moment here.
Being my second time here I could not contain my excitement still. I forgot to take photos 🙁 But a few here and there from my phone to give you a sneak peak. I promise next time I will do better; I have to go back to this place!! Being the nature lover I am, I felt at home, felt a connection with nature and simply listened to every sound that the wind brought in. The peace is so real you could connect with the ancestors! Did I mention the food? Oh the food! Somebody take me back please! Chef David has his way around food that he could simply just touch your avocado with his kitchen knife and transform the taste! Okay I am exaggerating but you get the point. The best part is he gives you a chance to hand pick the days vegetables and join him in preparing the meal for the day. Since I was too busy conversing with the warthogs, I missed the chance! And now I have to eat with my avocado with salt till next time 🙂
I could go on and on since I am still reminiscing on the memories. Have I worked this week? I am trying, but my mind is telling me no! The essence of going for a vacation or getaway is to relax and recharge right? Well I am relaxed and my mind is racing back to Mara. So I am thinking of introducing a section on the blog for getaways and vacations. We all need that break away from work. What do you think? Let me know and also share experiences of places you have visited. I am opening a new bucket list for travel!
Keep it here to find out the amazing surprises I got in my next stay.
Have a fruitful week people.
