There are times you feel so depleted and in need of an instant energy boost.You have been working so hard to hit a deadline, all energy is taken but there is always so much to be done. It’s those times when you need to step back a bit, breathe and refocus.You would like to have a sense of calm within the storm, a peacefulness that allows you to move through your difficult situations. In such moments, I would rather be sipping some fancy named cocktail on a beach , or walking through some nature trail than sitting on my desk. Is it just me or the tranquility of nature helps to open the lines of communication between the heart and the spoken word. It brings in some kind of peace and calmness to the mind, an unending friendly, enjoyable and happy life.
I do like connecting with nature, it recharges my spirits during times of mental stress and tiredness, taking away those feelings of loneliness. You only have to focus on the colors of nature and you feel instant calm and gentle invigoration, ready to face the world again! If you are a lover of nature like me in Nairobi, there are various parks and trails or even naturally preserved areas like Karura, arboretum, Nairobi safari walk, just to name a few. Walk, or if you have to, drive to the one nearest you. Stroll through the plants and trees and just listen. Listen to the winds whispering and the birds singing. Smell the green that’s in the air. Close your eyes and see the beauty that is inside you. Open them to see it all around you. Then go back to work relaxed and refreshed.
If you like some me time, then solitude is the way to go.Even if you office is a super busy one you can still take a solitude break. You can plan to go to lunch or coffee alone once in a while. When you feel things getting out of hand, go for a walk, or listen to some music. even though as humans we need each other for sanity and life balance, your peace of mind (sanity) may depend on time alone. You have to take this alone time, for yourself, in order to be able to give back to your work and to the world around you.
Since the idea of being at the beach is a fantasy drift right now, I will continue doing my walks, even in central park where this shoot was taken. The colour of this dress, turquoise, simply radiates calm and tranquility of blue. I love the pockets and i can already picture myself taking a walk, hands in the pockets, whistling or humming the evening away 🙂 I believe nothing beats going for a walk in times of anxiety and extreme stress.
