For many of us dressing for work has become a habit and an automatic chore. We wake up, after three snoozes, take a quick shower and slide into a suit or baggy casual wear (made to do for the office) and off we go!!! We have literally paired all the clothes in the office wardrobe!!!..
This mindless dressing does not give room for us to express how we feel, how we want to feel and how we want to be addressed.
It is true what they say “your dress code determines how you are addressed.” I have tried all extremes and on that day I want to feel like a boss I go for it, the difference is I get more noticed, greetings here and there, and a smile from the next person, doors being opened. I love the feeling; it boosts confidence and ultimate performance.
Clothes can align your identity and image. They can help you get what you want. The first step towards banging that coveted job is dressing for it. In so doing, you are setting the stage to make your dreams and ambitions a reality.
I do not have that office yet, but I would like to believe that my dressing and tones of gathered confidence did me good in getting a shoot at the boss’s boss’s boss office as a start.
